With WordPress, anyone can create a blog with ease and efficiency. In this guide, we will take you through the step-by-step process of creating a blog post using WordPress.

This article makes the assumption that you already have a website built using WordPress.

Navigate to the Dashboard

Every WordPress blog has a dashboard that contains various features and tools to help you create and manage your site.

After logging in to your WordPress account, the Dashboard should automatically display, however if it doesn’t you can navigate to the dashboard by clicking on the “My Sites” button.

Create a New Post

Once you are on the dashboard, navigate to the “Posts” > “Add New” button. The editor page should be open, and you could start creating your blog post.

Firstly, you need to enter a suitable title and then write your content in the text editor.

If you are using the WordPress Block Editor, the title will automatically be a H1 (Heading 1) and then if you type the body content in, it will automatically change to paragraph.

WordPress offers several editing tools to make your blog post more appealing, such as adding images, videos, or formatting text. If you click on the +, this will give you a series of editing tools to choose. Note within each of these options, there may be further editing options (eg: change the size of the image or alignment).

Before Publishing

On the right hand side of the WP Editor, you will find a summary which will show you when the blog post will be published.

If you want to schedule your blog post, click on the hyperlinked word beside ‘publish’ to bring up a calendar to choose a date and time of when you want your article to be published).

You can also select a category and add tags, a featured image and excerpt in this section.

Publish Your Blog Post

After completing your blog post, proofread your content, and preview it to ensure it looks as desired.

Click on the “Publish” button to make your blog post live.

WordPress is a powerful and easy-to-use platform that can help small businesses reach a broader customer base. Now, you have a clear understanding of how to create a blog post using WordPress. Although the process may seem daunting at first, it is relatively straightforward, and with a little bit of practice, you’ll become a master at creating compelling blog posts that your audience will enjoy.
